Bolton v Arsenal [R]

  • I took advantage of a rare opportunity to see Bolton on tv in the States this past weekend, and I was impressed. Bolton controlled play in the first half and handled the Arsenal attack well throughout. With Pedersen as savior for a second straight week, Bolton earned a well-deserved draw.

Bolton may not yet be on the verge of Europe, but neither do they look like a perennial flirt with relegation as they have in the past. The defense looks solid (though Campo seems a bit wild), and Okocha can really play. The commentator mentioned that Bolton are some 35 million pounds in debt (which is almost inconceivable). How unfortunate if the team were to sell Okocha to satisfy some of that.

  • Bolton are even asking the manager to accept a pay-cut. I hope Bolton keeps okocha because they deserve his services.

BTW, what’s going on with Jardel and the bench, surely the overweight thingy is over

  • We'd get next to nothing for Okocha because he's out of contract in the summer. The reality is we could sell the entire squad and not make a dent in the debt.

This could change is Eddie Davies' controversial takeover goes through.
