CSI-why don't they ever use overhead lights?

  • Whenever they investigate a crime scene, they NEVER use the lighting in the building. They always use ambient lighting and their little flashlights. WHY?

I can understand that most overhead lighting can throw shadows but it seems overly-theatrical to use only their flashlights. I would think that, sometimes, indoor lighting might show the bigger picture.

  • Probably to make it more dramatic and interesting. The X-Files was very much the same, it was to make it more eerie.

  • I have wondered this myself. Even in the morgue when they are autopsying a person, it is dark. WTF? They make it seem like no one in Vegas pays their electric bill.LOL

  • LOL! I just said that today watching an ep on SPIKE Tv, they NEVER turn on a light, and if it's during the day the curtains are ALWAYS drawn and there they are with their dinky flashlights! IT's hilarious. Has to be bad for their eyesight. Honestly, how much light can a flashlight have? And their little tiny blue light? What's with that? The person dies like 30 days before and their little tiny blue light still shows where there was some kind of liquid? I mean COME ON!!!!!!

  • My thought is to keep it hard core and gritty. You notice it's bright and sunny on CSI Miami, and sort of gritty on CSI NY too.
