How is the term 'monstrosity' used? ?

  • can an abstract noun be a monstrosity? such as hate. or must it be an adjective such as hatefulness?

    I looked everywhere but all the definitions are ambiguous...

  • Anything extremely ugly is a monstrosity. Get rid of that couch; it's a monstrosity. If an abstract noun is going to be used that way the talker will have to do a lot of explaining as to why it is appropriate. Of course hate is extremely ugly. It's also pretty comon though.
