I am nearly 19 weeks pregnant and have not felt ANY movement. Is there something wrong?

  • I have my 20 week scan next week, so will see then if everything is okay but am quite worried but thought I could be over-reacting. Has this happened to anyone else?

This is my first child so I am unsure what it would feel like but what me girlfriends are describing has not happened to me.

They all felt movement weeks ago (there are three of us pregnant all around the same time) and are now feeling very strong 'kicks'.

  • I'm 20 weeks and haven't felt my baby either.
I am having baby number 3 and didn't feel any of the babies until 22-23 weeks.
I got my scan done last week and the doctor gave me an explanation,my placenta is anterior meaning it is in front of the baby(hence being my tummy wall)and the baby is doing just fine but when it kicks it is actually kicking the placenta.
Until the baby is bigger(ie bigger than the placenta)i will feel more movements.
    Hope this helps

  • You are fine, there is nothing wrong. I am 21 weeks along and felt my first movements 2 weeks ago. Give yourself another week or so. I don't feel mine move all the time, only when I'm in certain positions like sitting.

  • If this is your first they say it takes longer to feel movement because you don't really know what you are looking for. if you were to have another you might start feeling movement a little sooner. I was about 19-20 weeks when I felt my first one fluttering around and about 16-17 when I felt the one I pregnant with right now. I would worry about it too much. i hope all goes well at the doctor's office.

  • no you are fine.
you normally dont start to feel movement until around 20-25 weeks. if they have been preg b4 then they know what to look for. once you feel it you will know.

  • I am also pregnant with my first, and i am 23 weeks along. i have felt no movement STILL myself! I had a drs appointment today and the babys heart beat is perfect. ive had three ultrasounds so far (i was considered high risk for downs, even though im only 23 years old...abnormal blood test results) and my little girl was jumping around like a mexican jumping bean! but as far as me feeling her, NOTHING STILL! i have an anterior placenta (so it goes baby, placenta, then tummy) and that makes it harder, especially for first time moms to know what theyre feeling when the baby kicks. im not worried as my baby is perfectly healthy so far, and im sure the same is true for you! who knows, maybe you have an anterior placenta as well. but many many many first time moms dont feel their first movement until as late as 22 or 23 weeks or so. GOOD LUCK

  • Some take that long!!!!!!!!!! I'd say no worry yet!!!! But I did feel mine by 14 weeks, but we are all different!!!!!! I say you are ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing is wrong. I didn't feel the first kicks with my son until 20 weeks, and 21 weeks with my daughter.

Some women just feel kicks later than others. Try not to worry too much.

  • Relax, you are fine. I didn't feel my baby move until about 22 weeks. It varies from person to person. Depending on their size, how the fetus is positioned in the womb, etc. But when I finally did feel him move, he moved like crazy! :) My baby loved to kick in my tummy and now that he is 4 months old, he still loves to kick. Maybe your baby is just a relaxed, passive baby. No worries, it's still REALLY early in your pregnancy.

  • Hey,
Nothing is wrong with you or the baby.
My friend didn't feel her first baby move until she was 26weeks.
Try {if you can} to lay on your tummy in bed and you might be able to feel the baby move then.
It depends on body weight today if you are a biger women it can take longer to feel, if your placenta is attached to the from of your abdomen it can be the reason why you havn't felt it because there is your body tissue plus placenta the baby's movements have to get through!

Don't worry what yuor friends say because everyone is different!
    Goodluck, congrats and best wishes!!!

  • Nope. Nothing wrong, most likely. You usually start to feel movement at 20-22 weeks. You're fine.

  • That doesn not mean there is something wrong. My sister didn't feel movement until 20 weeks, which is average from what I have read. Don't worry!

  • I'm in my 20th week and coincidentally had a doctors appointment today. My OBGYN asked if I had felt any movement, and I said no. I told her that I was concerned about it because everyone kept asking me about it and it was making me nervous. She told me it was completely normal and that many women don't feel the baby until their 21st or 22nd week. We then listened for the baby's heartbeat, and there it was - nice and strong. So there you go... Don't worry, it's normal!!! :-)
