Question about snapfish

  • On Snapfish they say that you can buy hi-res pictures of your scanned film images, but when you download them, you get them as a zip file, which is compressed, so will this affect the image quality??

  • It shouldn't... compressing files (like .zip or .rar) is just saving them in a different file format. The reason that format isn't used for usual files is it's very slow to read (think of how long it takes to unzip a file as opposed to just opening it.) So no data is lost when a file is compressed.

  • sorry but your wrong here.. compressing a file does degrade quality... its hard to notice, but it does.. think of a video.. the more you compress it, the worse it looks.. its the same for pictures.

  • Compress JPEG files by 20 to 25% with no loss in quality or data integrity
